Product Overview

The Inline 3D AOI S910 is a high-precision inline Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) system designed for integrated SMT production lines. It uses advanced 3D image acquisition technology and multiple projection gratings to deliver reliable inspection results while maintaining smooth PCB transfer.

Unlike standalone inspection systems, inline AOI is installed directly within the production flow, enabling real-time defect detection without disrupting line speed — making it suitable for high-output SMT environments.

Core Technology and Capabilities

The S910 AOI system integrates several advanced technologies:

  • High-speed industrial cameras with ultra-fast frame capture for real-time imaging.

  • 4-directional projection grating 3D imaging to enhance defect detection accuracy and minimize blind spots.

  • High-precision motion control platform with linear motor and closed-loop feedback for stable performance and micron-level movement precision.

These technologies allow S910 to detect many common SMT defects, including tombstoning, insufficient solder, overflow, misalignment, and damaged components.

When Inline 3D AOI Is the Right Choice

Inline 3D AOI like the S910 is especially valuable when your SMT line requires:

Real-time defect feedback that supports immediate process correction
    Seamless integration into high-speed production
Consistent quality control without manual intervention
Higher throughput with minimal inspection delay

Inline AOI is often used in:

    • Large-scale SMT assembly lines

    • Fully automated production environments

    • High-volume electronics manufacturing

    • SMT lines requiring tight quality control and traceability

    Inline AOI and Line Stability

While inline inspection offers real-time detection, it must be integrated thoughtfully. Unplanned inline inspection can create PCB transfer interruptions or line blocking if not coordinated with transfer logic and buffers.

    To ensure stable operation:

    • Confirm SMEMA signal integration across adjacent machines

    • Align conveyor speed and height for smooth PCB transfer

    • Plan for NG board routing and buffer placement

    • Define inspection logic and feedback flow

    Typical Integration Scenarios

Inline 3D AOI S910 is commonly integrated:

    • After reflow soldering for post-solder inspection

    • Between placement and reflow for early defect detection

    • Within fully automated SMT lines to support MES/ERP traceability

This alignment ensures inspections are timely and improve line performance without slowing throughput.

When Inline Inspection May Not Be Ideal

Inline AOI may be less suitable if:

    • Production line is highly variable or high-mix, low-volume

    • Space constraints prevent smooth PCB routing

    • Manual processes dominate parts of the line

In such cases, offline AOI or hybrid inspection strategies can provide better flexibility.
